BIOGRAPHIE
French-Cuban artist, painter of the soul and weaver of cultural ties
I was born in Havana, and it was the meeting, then love, that brought me to France in 1995. I founded a family there, settled down and since then, I have been building bridges between my Afro-Cuban origins and my life in Bordeaux.
- For almost ten years I studied classical music and art history at the Guillermo Tomas Conservatory in Guanabacoa,
- After 5 years of university studies, I have obtained, a (MEEF) Master 2 in Teaching, Education and Training, specializing in English at the Higher Foreign Languages Pedagogical Institute of (ISPLE) Enrique José Varona in Havana.
My curiosity always pushed me further
Already in Cuba, I was introduced to folkloric and Afro-Cuban dances, and modeling. Once in France, I continued my studies at the Bordeaux's University, while working with stylists and associations such as:
- Vania Laporte and Almen Giribilla at the Bordeaux International Fair and the Wine Festival, and the River Festival
- Multiple events organized by Guy Lenoir at MC2A.
I am very proud and honored to have been:
- The first Cuban Salsa &, Afro-Cuban teacher in Bordeaux. I introduced La Rueda de Casino at the bar Le Chuchumbé from 1995-2001, With Yerim Sy and Marie Hélène Marrock
- I sang on stage with legendary groups like "Melting Pot" from Bordeaux and
"La Matancera" in Paris and abroad. I have danced in numerous festivals, and shared my passion for Afro-Cuban culture and dance through teaching and creation.
- I have led courses in various associations and socio-cultural structures such as A'Latika, L'Amical des Pompiers, Le JSA, Habana-Son in Pessac, Bord'o Latino Swing among others.
- In 2003-2004 I founded my own dance troupe "ASOKERE".
- I co-founded and co-organized emblematic events such as "Dansons sur les Quais" with Donaldo Flores (former singer from Adalberto Alvarez y su Son group) and Marc Pinaud (Technician at the Bordeaux Opera)
Always everywhere at once, until the day my body crumbled down
From 2002, I began significant life change courses. As a single mother of three, I made the decision to secure my career path. I became a Regional Accountant for the scientific and technical association Les Petits Débrouillards Aquitaine after one year of training through integration. Meanwhile, I decided to continue dancing because it was my breath of fresh air. So I split myself into 2 jobs, my little family, my studies, and I. In 2012, I have obtained a Postgraduate Diploma – Advanced Technician in Accounting and Management.
In 2013, I founded L'ASAFAL, an association that promotes Afro-Caribbean & Afro-descendant cultures in Bordeaux. This association aim was to highlight women role in social progress.
At the turn of my forties, I was driven by several professional, artistic, and family activities, and I suffered from a full burnout, which was exacerbated by a very bad accident. This utterly chaotic period brought me back to the essential: my inner creativity. Despite the illness, it was the most creative and astonished period. I was weaving the chrysalis for an unexpected metamorphosis.
This is where painting emerged for me as a healing therapy of anchoring and resilience. A visceral need to put my emotions on canvas, to translate the inexpressible into colors, gestures, and light.
I have been painting since 2014. My works are imbued with poetry, memory, and spirituality. And painting led me to writing. What my body can no longer express through dance is expressed through it: my roots, my wounds, my impulses, and my rebirths.
Today, my site is much more than a showcase
It is a place for sharing and expression. You will find:
- My original paintings to discover or acquire
- The possibility of ordering a custom creation
- A universe between art, spirituality, memory and transmission
Resilience, Commitment, Transmission
Since 2018, I have returned to the path of transmission. But I've done it differently.
- Today, I am a Training Project Manager.
- I support teams.
- I help them manage training.
- I also help them manage the transition to structural and digital change.
- I am a certified trainer and coach.
- I work in professional transitions and career path security. I provide assistance to a diverse range of audiences through orientation, retraining, integration through training and employment. My approach is deeply human, holistic, and always anchored in listening to life paths.
I continue to advocate for women's rights. I participate in the "Voices of Women" group at the Foundation for the Memory of Slavery. Our mission is to amplify the voices and memories that have been forgotten.
Moreover, I serve as a voluntary member of the board of directors of the Parcours-Formations association, a training center that is dedicated to the inclusion of individuals living with disabilities.
